man made ersatz ivory which is used to make some of the key tops of some of the great grand pianos such as Bosendorfer, Steinway, Fazioli, and a handful of Ser Jacopo pipes! This pipe is another representation of what is believed to be the first known briar smoking pipe, which had an albatross bone for its shank. For this reason, this pipe, and others of this series are stamped "Albatro" which is Italian for albatross. Photo ref: 4001 |
